Houchins is located in the North Essex countryside between Colchester and Braintree. Houchins Wedding Venue is surrounded by fields and greenery and within the estate, there is a secluded pond area surrounded by trees with flowers in bloom most of the year.

All in all, you'll love this venue with fantastic grounds and a well-designed garden and inside areas. It's a favourite venue for photographers like me who love both the inside design and the surrounding countryside for great photos and film.

There's even a swing making for perfect wedding photos. Group shots can be taken in this area too with the bank used to elevate the guests. Or the photographer can take a group shot from the accessible roof of the main building.

For the preparations, there's the Grade II listed building with all the facilities you'll need. The drawing room downstairs can be used for the bridal party photos and some bride portraits.For the ceremony, you can choose the large outdoor marquee or woodland setup. Or indoors they have the drawing room or for larger ceremonies the indoor ceremony room with fireplace and balcony are a great choice.

The bar opens onto the terrace and wedding gardens for the drinks reception. There are plenty of tables and seating for the guests as well as lawn games to keep everyone entertained.

The wedding breakfast room is the same room as the indoor ceremony area. They call it a Post-Industrial style and can accommodate up to 150 guests when the balcony area is used too. Large windows and good use of lighting on the steel rigs provide plenty of light for an airy feel. It even has a large centrepiece fireplace opposite the balcony area and overall is very well designed.

The evening entertainment and dancing are held in the Foundry Barn with great air conditioning it's the coolest place to be in the hot summer months. Currently, with blacked-out walls, wood flooring and mood lighting, it's a large area for the party.

They have accommodation for 14 guests in the farmhouse and there are nearby hotels in the surrounding areas too.
